Paul D. Burgess
Paul has his parents to thank for the color and depth of his writing voice. His childhood was spent in a constant to-and-fro transit between the Rocky Mountain West, and the diversity of the Hawaiian islands, with a couple of years in Malaysia for good measure.
Inheriting the family wanderlust, Paul spent his early adult years traveling, first in the Marine Corps, then adventuring as a “freelance photojournalist” in Afghanistan in 1984. Following that experience, Paul spent twelve years working jobs ranging from musical street busker, waiter, and flight instructor, to musket and canon demonstrator at Colonial Williamsburg.
Paul used these diverse experiences in his next chapter, speechwriting, serving on the staffs of two U.S. Senators from Wyoming. To date, he has performed speechwriting duties for an undersecretary of defense, two directors of the National Security Council, one President of the United States, four aerospace and defense company CEOs, a U.S. Navy vice admiral, and an assistant secretary of the Army.
Paul’s next novel is slated to appear in 2025.
